Background
Giovanni Randi SpA was founded in 1968 by Giovanni Randi in Faenza (province of Ravenna). The vision was to produce tartaric acid industrially from by-products of the wine industry, such as pomace and tartar. From the beginning, the focus was on 100% natural products.
In the 1990s, Randi continued its pioneering role and expanded strongly internationally. With the establishment of production sites in Australia, California, and Argentina, the company is now also more independent and diversified in raw material supply. To this day, the company is family-run in the second and third generations.
The process – a perfect "closed loop": the by-products of the wineries are used to the maximum in terms of added value. Today, in addition to natural tartaric acid and its derivatives, the Randi Group also produces ethanol, grape seed oil as well as biogas and green electricity. As a result, the Villapana plant is self-sufficient in covering its energy needs and saves about 10,000 t of CO2 annually.
After all, responsibility for employees and the region, sustainability, and business ethics are fundamental values of Randi's corporate philosophy.
